Broadsheet carries a very broad menu of coffees. We roast each coffee the way we think it will taste best and thus roast in a spectrum from extremely light (Nordic) all the way through to medium-dark. We indicate this roast degree for each coffee in its website description. We also source coffees with a wide range of flavors: from bright and fruity coffees to ones which go great with milk on a Sunday morning. We categorize these coffees in what we're calling our "Flavor Family Guide" with our label colors coded to these flavor groupings to help you select a coffee you will love!

In Each Coffee
We roast each coffee we source the way we think it will show best and also to acknowledge the diversity of tastes out there. However, all of our coffees are roasted to accentuate sweetness and clarity, and roasted to brew (extract) easily, on any sort of equipment, anywhere. We try to maintain clear roast profiles that develop the coffees — even our darker coffees — without imparting harsh "roast" notes so that the innate deliciousness of the coffee can shine through.

Precision & Quality
Quality control starts with sourcing great coffee. We purchase these coffees only in quantities we believe we can exhaust relatively quickly so that we keep our offerings fresh and without any signs of fading or aging (these can start to appear in a coffee surprisingly quickly). We store our coffee in our climate controlled facility. Every single batch we roast is put through a destoner, and is color sorted to eliminate any color based defects that only present after roasting such as quakers and over-roasted beans ("two-timers"); we are one of only a handful of roasters on the east coast that uses color sorting technology. Most importantly, we cup (analytically taste) and evaluate every single roast as a team every roast day and constantly update our time-temperature application/airflow roasting curves based on these evaluations.
